Types of Drapery
Pleated Drapes
Pleated draperies are a drape design that is formal and classic, or casual and flowy. The panels may be hung on traverse rods and use a cord-and pulley system to open and close the panels, or you can use a fling rod and travel with your drapes to close them. A current popular design with pleated drapery is to hang them on rings on a decorative pole and either open and close them by travelling with the drapery, or simply have stationary fixed panels that frame your window. Pinch pleat drapes are a traditional style – others include inverted pinch pleat, ripplefold, pencil pleat, or box pleat.
Blackout Drapes
As the name suggests, blackout drapes have room darkening lining that make them block out light. They also insulate the room by blocking cold and heat from entering through the windows. They are perfect for a bedroom if you require complete darkness or in a media room to recreate the theater ambience.
Sheer Drapes
These custom drapes are made from lightweight fabric and are used to add a sense of delicate charm to the room. Today’s sheer fabrics come in a vast multitude of textures, colors, embroidery and prints – don’t discount these as just your grandmothers style! They can offer a gorgeous diffusion of light and provide interest with many options to choose from for color and texture.
